The 2016 ISHPES Congress will be held at the University Paris-Est Marne-la-Vall\u00e9e and National architecture school of Paris Malaquais with the partner organizations of the French Society for Sports History, Universit\u00e9 Paris-Est, and LABEX Futurs urbains.<\/span><\/p>\n For the 17 th ISHPES Congress, researchers are invited to submit papers related to \u201cSites of sport in history\u201d \u2013 these words being taken in their widest sense. Papers are expected to meet the following sub-themes or one of the three specific symposia: <\/p>\n

\n– The spreading of sports cultures: acculturation and innovation
\n– Sports facilities: architectures and urban planning
\n– Outdoor sports in nature and cities
\n– Indoor sports and spatial segregation
\n– Sport as a contested space
\n– Gendered sports sites
\n– Sport in figurative space: art, literature, film
\n– Sports heritage and sites of memory
\n– Physical education and sport in schools\/colleges\/universities
\n– Welfare state and urban planning in sport
\n– Open paper
\nSymposia:
\n– Health promotion and sports sites
\n– Sports sites in closed institutions
\n– Conflict of land use in sports and tourist areas<\/p>\n
